Speculation is rife over whether the Congress party’s social media head Divya Spandana has quit her post after she deleted her official Twitter account, reports India Today. Just days earlier, she had used the same Twitter account to congratulate Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over her new role.
Spandana has previously received praise for her handling of the party’s social media strategy, leading to a positive turnaround.
The party is seen to be just recovering from a massive defeat in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 in which it was only able to win 52 seats, as against the ruling BJP’s jump to 303, which is even higher than its 2014 performance, which itself was a record.
In the aftermath of the drubbing, a number of Congress leaders had either resigned or offered to resign from their positions in the party, thus being all the more reason for all the more reason for the current speculation.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
