All is not well in the Bihar Congress camp it seems. The unit was clearly not happy with the dismissal of Ashok Choudhary as the president of the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee (BPCC). The appointment of Sonia Gandhi’s hand-picked man Kuakab Quadri as the new working president hasn’t gone down well either, with 26 of the 27 MLAs didn’t turn up for the function organised on 27 September when Quadri took charge, reports Times of India.

This inconspicuous absence assumes significance because Quadri needs the support of at least 18 MLAs to prevent being punished under the anti-defection law. While the lone MLA Siddhart, representing Bikram in the Assembly attended the function, at least 15 MLAs and MLCs turned up at Choudhary’s residency to show solidarity with him.

Prior to assuming charge, Quadri had called on Sadanand Singh, the party's leader in the assembly at his residence where SIngh likened him to a brother and said that he would honour the high-command's appointment.

Quadri announced later that he would organise protests and agitations in district and block levels against the multi-crore Srijan scam and bungling in Bateshwarsthan Ganga pump canal scheme to bring out Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's 'anti-people policies'.
