PM Modi’s pic with Congress’ claims
The official twitter handle of the Congress party on Thursday (28 May) courted a controversy after it was caught using a 2016 picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sitting for his Madame Tussauds wax statue to accuse him of luxuriously enjoying in Lockdown.
In a video as part of its “SpeakUpIndia” campaign the Congress accuses the Narendra Modi led central government of being apathetic towards the poor and migrant workers.
At around 16 second mark in the video the Congress accuses the Modi government of “aisho aaram ki zindagi mein mast hain” - which roughly translates to “being busy enjoying a life of luxury” while others are reeling under the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown.
The aforementioned caption was accompanied with a picture of Prime Minister Modi sitting on a chair while a woman looks over his head. The party also reported posted a tweet with the same picture.
Alert social media users soon investigated and pointed out that the picture used by the Congress actually belongs to a 2016 sitting of the Prime Minister for his Madame Tussauds wax statue.
Here is a video of the sitting uploaded by Madame Tussauds on YouTube which contains the said footage.
After being called out Congress proceeded to delete the tweet but the video is still available on its Twitter timeline.
