Petrol prices came down further on Thursday (1 November) as the essential commodity became 18 paise less dearer and now will be sold at Rs 79.37 per litre in the national capital. However, diesel prices continue to remain unchanged as reported by TNIE.

Meanwhile, in the financial capital, Mumbai, petrol became cheaper by 16 paise and now is being sold at Rs 84.86 per litre and diesel prices remained unchanged.

After a steady rise following global crude price rise, petrol prices have been steadily declining since the last few days affording the common man some breathing space.

Giving a relief from the hike, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on October 4 announced a reduction of Rs 2.50 per litre on both petrol and diesel prices after curbing excise duty on the commodity by Rs 1.50 per litre and urged respective state governments to slash the same amount at their end.
