Coronavirus: Bihar Reports 1st COVID-19 Casualty As 38-Year-Old Man Passes Away; Death Toll In India Rises To 6

With a 38-year-old man passing away due to Novel Coronavirus, Bihar on Sunday (22 March) recorded its first casualty since the outbreak of the disease COVID-19 in the country. This took the total death toll in the country to six.
Saif Ali, who is the first non-senior citizen in India to die of COVID-19, was admitted to AIIMS in Patna. According to the AIIMS Director, he was originally taken to the hospital for kidney failure, but turned out to be COVID-19 positive and died due to the same.
The AIIMS authorities also confirmed, he also had renal failure, after existing kidney problems, reported India Today.
His COVID-19 test came back positive on Sunday.
Earlier today, the country witnessed its fifth death due to COVID-19 after a 63-year old man died in Maharashtra.
The man had returned from Qatar, and was originally hailed from Bihar’s Munger.
The news was confirmed by Sanjay Kumar, Principal Secretary, Health Department of Bihar.
This breaks the pattern India had seen so far, where mainly the people with old age had been seriously ill due to the highly infectious disease.
The total coronavirus positive cases in India have risen to 324 as informed by the Union Health Ministry on its website.
