Coronavirus Update: Record 7,964 New Cases Raise India’s Covid-19 Tally To 1.73 Lakh; Here’s The Latest State-Wise Breakup

With the highest daily spike of 7,964 new cases in the last 24 hours, India's total case count of coronavirus jumped to 173,363, the Union Health Ministry data revealed on Saturday (30 May).

According to the Health Ministry, of the total, 86,422 are active cases while at least 82,370 people have been cured of the disease.

At least 265 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the total fatality count to 4,971.

Maharashtra, which has emerged as the worst Coronavirus-hit state in the country, has so far recorded 62,228 cases, including 2,098 fatalities and 26,997 recoveries. Tamil Nadu followed with 20,246 cases. The Covid-19 tally in Delhi has crossed the 17,000-mark with as many as 17,386 cases recorded so far in the national capital. Gujarat has reported 15,934 cases so far.

States with most casualties after Maharashtra are Gujarat (980), Delhi (398), Madhya Pradesh (334), and West Bengal (302).

States with more than 6,000 cases are Rajasthan (8,365), Madhya Pradesh (7,645) and Uttar Pradesh (7,284).

Among other states/UTs where corona cases have surged past 2,000-mark are West Bengal (4,813), , Andhra Pradesh (3,436), Bihar (3,376), Karnataka (2,781), Telangana (2,425), Punjab (2,197), and Jammu and Kashmir (2,164).

According to the Health Ministry, 5,043 cases are being re-assigned to states.
