Country To Have An Additional 660-KM Metro Network Across 15 New Cities, Says Union Urban Affairs Minister

At an interaction organised on Monday (October 29) with the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that India will have an additional 660 km metro line apart from the existing network of 515 km across various cities in the country.

All the states and union territories have been asked to prepare their respective Detailed Project Reports (DPR) for the cities and submit them at the earliest to the Central government. These fall in line with the provisions mentioned in the Metro Rail Policy of 2017.


He further stated that the 11th version of Urban Mobility India Conference will be held at Nagpur between 2 and 4 November bearing the theme ‘Green Mobility’. This is being organised to contemplate on the latest urban transport practices. This conference is aimed at bringing tech service providers, policy makers and officials together.
