US President Donald Trump launched a fresh attack on China in a press-briefing on Friday (5 June) slammed the nation for failing to stop Coronavirus at its source in Wuhan and called it “China’s gift to the world”.
ANI quoted Trump as saying, “Covid-19 is a gift from China. Not good, they should have stopped it at the source. A very bad gift. How come, Wuhan where it started was in a very bad trouble, but it did not go to any other parts of China”.
Trump added that China has taken “tremendous advantage” of the US with the latter pumping in $500 billion to rebuild the country, while hinting that it was a stupid thing to do. Trump went on to say that now the situation is changing.
Since the outbreak of Covid-19 Trump has been regularly criticising China which included calling SARS-CoV-2 as the “Chinese Virus” in retaliation to the Chinese accusing the US of being responsible for the virus’ origins.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
