Healthcare workers wearing PPE (Wikimedia Commons)
In a major development towards upping the supply of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for medical and healthcare workers leading the nation's fight against COVID-19 pandemic, two samples of PPE coveralls developed by a Northern Railways workshop have received a clearance from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), reports Economic Times.
The testing of the two samples was conducted at a DRDO laboratory in Gwalior. The tests checked the resistance of the bio-protective covering fabric to the penetration of blood or body fluid.
While the Northern Railways is presently producing 20 PPE coveralls a day, the figure is set to go up to 100 units a day in a week long span. Railway Board has already issued the directives to the Zonal railways to take up the production of PPEs.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
