COVID-19 Recovery Rate In India At 39.62 Per Cent; 7.9 People Per One Lakh Infected: Health Ministry

India’s recovery rate against COVID-19 pandemic is 39.62 per cent, while 7.9 people per one lakh population have been infected with the coronavirus, Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry said on Wednesday (20 May) as reported by Hindustan Times.

Health Ministry’s Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal, addressing a press conference, said, “has been on continuous upwards climb and is more than 39.62 per cent. When the first phase of lockdown started, the recovery rate was around 7.1 per cent. During the second phase of lockdown, it was 11.42 per cent and rose to 26.59 per cent. Today, the recovery rate is 39.62 per cent.”

“If the total population of the world is taken into account, then 62 people per lakh population have been affected due to COVID-19. In India, 7.9 people per lakh population have got affected due to COVID,” he added.

He also said so far close to 40 per cent patients of total confirmed cases had been cured of COVID-19. According to Agarwal, out of country’s 61,149 active cases, around 2.94 per cent needed oxygen support, 3 per cent ICU and 0.45 per cent ventilator support.

The number of confirmed cases in India is 1,06,750 and 3,303 people have succumbed to the infection. 42,298 Covid-19 patients have been cured.
