Rafia Naaz (ANI/Twitter)
Two days after clerics issued a fatwa against a Muslim yoga teacher Rafiz Naaz in Jharkhand’s Daronda, a mob of Islamic extremists ransacked her house.
The mob, led by the cleric, was allegedly offended by Naaz’s remarks to the media following the fatwa. She says that following the fatwa, extremists have threatened her on Facebook and later even called her mobile phone. They later pelted stones at her residence. The Jharkhand Police has deployed a security detail after Principal Secretary Sanjay Kumar brought the matter to the notice of Chief Minister Raghubar Das.
Naaz said that later on, a man named Faiz Ullah sent her a message:
Reacting to the issue, Yoga guru Baba Ramdev said , “From Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan to Saudi Arabia so many Muslims practice Yoga. It is an exercise which is good for mental and physical wellness, religion shouldn't be brought into this”.
Naaz, meanwhile has got support from a Shia cleric Maulana Saif Abbas.

Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
