Indian Army launched a blitzkrieg of targeted attacks on terror launchpads and army facilities across the Line of Control (LoC) fearing raids by Pakistan's Border Action Teams (BATs) to help terrorists infiltrate into India territory. There has been a massive exchange of artillery fire in areas under Poonch and Krishna Ghati sectors, reports India Today.

Later, Pakistani Army through Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) acknowledged that three of its soldiers were killed in the Indian firing at Rakhchikri sector in Rawalkot. Sources in the Indian establishment though claim that the actual numbers are much higher.

There have been over 600 ceasefire violations in 2019. Last year there were 1,629 ceasefire violations. Pakistan's ISPR also made mendacious claims of having killed seven Indian soldiers while inflicting damage on several posts without giving any details.

Owing to heightened state along the LoC, Pakistani Army has beefed up its troops along the LoC and the international border in Punjab area, maintaining operational readiness particularly in the areas falling under its 4 Corp and 10 Corp headquartered in Lahore and Rawalpindi respectively.

Tensions have been running high between India and Pakistan ever since the Pakistan based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) executed a suicide attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama district of Jammu & Kashmir on 14 February 2019, which killed more than 40 paramilitary troops.
