“Delhi Is At Your Doorstep Now”: PM Modi Gives Green Light To Projects Worth Rs 3,300 Crore At Dhemaji, Assam

In his speech today at Silapathar, Dhemaji in Assam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the state’s tea, tourism, handloom and handicraft will strengthen the State's self-reliance, reports ANI.

“With Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal's government worked on several projects. Bogibeel Bridge has been completed, Kaliabhomora Bridge on Brahmaputra will improve Assam's connectivity. Four-lane national highway work is also in progress,” he said.

The prime minister said that the centre and Assam government were working collaboratively to develop infrastructure in the state.

“Despite the State having great potential, former governments gave it 'sautela' (step motherly) treatment by overlooking development in various sectors,” he said.

"Those who ruled for decades since Independence believed Dispur was too distant from Delhi. ''Dilli ab door nahi aapke darwaaze par hai'' (Delhi is not far now, it stands at your doorstep," he told the crowd.

The prime minister also inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of various projects worth Rs 3,300 crore, including a gas compressor station at Hebeda village, Makum, Tinsukia, and Dhemaji Engineering College.

He further said that due to Assam government's efforts, there're more than 20 engineering colleges in state.

“State also working on implementation of new National Education Policy at the earliest. NEP focuses on education in regional language which will benefit tea workers' children and tribal people,” he said.
