Officials and engineers at site of piling work for Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor near Duhai.
Piling work has been initiated by the NCRTC (National Capital Region Transport Corporation) at a location close to Duhai as part of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project, reports Rail Analysis.
The 17 km Sahibabad-Duhai stretch is aimed to be finished and made operational by March 2023.
The piling work is being carried out to a prepare foundation for constructing elevated viaducts. Only some time ago, the contract for construction of the viaducts and stations on the Ghaziabad-Duhai stretch had been awarded by the NCRTC to –CRFG JV.
The 82-km Delhi–Meerut RRTS will be the first-of-its-kind rail based high-speed regional transit system in India and will be the fastest, most comfortable and most secure mode of transport in the National Capital Region (NCR). The corridor will ensure smooth connectivity between the cities of Delhi, Meerut and Ghaziabad.
The trains that will operate on the tracks will have to speeds of 160 km/hour and on average run at 100 km/hour.
The project is funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) as part of its effort to improve the urban transport system in India.
