The Delhi police has identified at least 12 members of Northeast Delhi’s criminal gangs led by Nasir and Irfan Chhenu who are suspected of being involved in the riots which have plagued the Northeast part of the city, Times of India has reported.

As per the report, the rioters spotted by either the cops or by security cameras at the scene were found shooting, pelting stones and setting vehicles ablaze. The report claims that these rioters belong to the rival Nasir and Irfan gangs.

The report claims that the rioters have fired at least 500 rounds in the last three days, which has indicated that they have a large cache of arms and ammunition at their disposal.

The report adds that these gangs may have been hired to carrying out violence. A manhunt for their members is expected to be launched after the riots are brought under control.

The rioters are said to be coordinating via multiple WhatsApp groups to avoid the authorities and are also believed to have stored molotov cocktails at strategic locations.
