Delhi Metro Begins Trials On Grey Line Connecting Dwarka-Najafgarh; Operations To Start September

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has begun trial runs for the 4.29 km long Dwarka-Najafgarh stretch on Monday (15 July), the Hindustan Times reports. According to senior metro officials, the corridor is known as ‘Grey Line’, and would be open for the public by September.
In a statement, the DMRC said that they would check the interaction of the metro train with the civil structure to ensure that there is no physical blockage during the movement of the train on the tracks. The statement further adds: “The signalling trials are expected to begin in the days to come.”
Three stations would come under the Grey Line- Dwarka, Nangli and Najafgarh. Dwaraka and Nangli stations would be elevated, and the Najafgarh station would be underground. Further DMRC is working on extending the section with a 1.18 km stretch to Dhansa Bus stand, which is expected to be completed by December 2020.
The Grey Line will be also be connected with the Blue Line, which connects Dwarka Sector-21 to Noida Electronic City and Ghaziabad’s Vaishali in Uttar Pradesh. According to official DMRC estimates, the new section would benefit around two lakh commuters.
