Delhi Metro’s Oldest Stretch The Red Line To Be Renovated On All 21 Stations Along Rithala-Dilshad Garden

Major development works are set to begin at the stations of Red Line of the Delhi Metro as the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) gears up to give a makeover to the oldest section of the Delhi Metro which was launched in 2002 between Tis Hazari and Shahdara.
When juxtaposed against the newer lines of Delhi metro, the Red Line stations look washed out and old, making the case for a face-lift. Thus, the DMRC is set to start the renovation work on 21 stations from Rithala to Dilshad Garden in several phases, tenders for which have already begun to be rolled out.
So far, tenders have been floated for three metro stations- Dilshad garden, Jhilmil and Mansarovar Park, reports Financial Express.
The renovation entails a host of activities like rectification of water seepage issues, removal of cable troughs, chemical polishing at platforms et cetera. To reinvigorate the external facade of the stations, they will be given a new look with aluminium louvers and structural glazing.
The existing terrazzo flooring will also be replaced with granite flooring. Also, the pathways outside the stations and the parking areas will be beautified along with several other measures.
Appending to that list of measures and activities decided upon, the existing lighting systems will be replaced with LEDs and roofs will also be sheeted.
The overall renovation is expected to take around nine months from the day of tender finalisation.
