Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC), after missing the initially set deadline, has rescheduled the opening of services from Dilshad Garden in Delhi to New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad to November, reported DNA.

The 9.41 km long stretch Delhi Metro’s Red line began its trial runs from last month. A deadline of November was decided in a meeting between officials of the DMRC and Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) to complete the trial runs and commissioning the route.

While on the trial runs, different parameters of the metro infrastructure will be tested. Checks on the civil structure will be done and the entire signalling system will go through various tests.

"This is to make certain that the train does not encounter any physical blockage during its movement on the track," said a DMRC official.

Monitoring of the braking response of the train and its intercommunication with operations control center (OCC) as well as the track system and overhead electrification’s behaviour repeatedly.

The whole stretch which is an extension of the Dilshad Garden-Rithala corridor branded as Red Line of the metro is elevated with eight stations at Shahid Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, Hindon River Station and New Bus Adda.

Once commissioned, the commuters from Dilshad Garden will have a direct connectivity to reach Sahibabad.
