Delhi Schools To Remain Closed On 13 November For ‘Chaath Puja’

The Delhi government has declared that all government offices and educational institutions will remain closed on 13 November 2018 for the occasion of Chaath Puja.
Manish Sisodia, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, has requested the Lt Governor, Anil Baijal, to declare the 13 November a holiday due to the “Sandhya Arghya” of Chhath Puja being done on that day.
The Arvind Kejriwal government ever since assuming office has been declaring Chhat Puja a public holiday. The festival is widely celebrated in the state of Bihar. Delhi has around 40 lakh 'Poorvanchali' voters, hailing from eastern Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, who play a crucial role in elections , reports Times of India.
Delhi Development Minister Gopal Rai had recently inspected a Yamuna ghat near ITO and took stock of preparatory works for the festival. The AAP government had made arrangements for the puja at 1,000 locations in the city.
The AAP government made special financial provisions for the construction of 1,000 ghats on the banks of River Yamuna in the 2017-18 budget.
