DTC buses
The board of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) has approved the induction of 1,500 electric buses and the procurement of 75 CNG buses for inter-state services.
It has also resolved to give an in-principle agreement to acquire 37 CNG-run AC and 38 non-AC standard floor buses for a similar purpose.
“With the induction of electric buses on such a large scale, augmentation of infrastructure and demand incentives to consumers, we don’t intend to leave any stone unturned in making Delhi the electric vehicle (EV) capital of the world,” Delhi’s Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot was quoted in a report by The Economic Times.
The rest of the 529 buses that it has approved is under the non-FAME-II category. The state government will be providing a subsidy of Rs 262 crore for the same.
Further, the board has opted to allocate 10 separate sites to service providers in order to set up EV charging and battery swapping stations.
Introducing ElectionsHQ + 50 Ground Reports Project
The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
