Digital India Shows The Way: India Moves Up 8 Ranks In Economist Intelligence Unit’s E-Payment Adoption Survey

India has moved up by eight ranks in Economist Intelligence Unit’s (EIU) survey on adoption of e-payments, Economic Times has reported. The survey involved 73 countries and it was commissioned by Visa. India was ranked 36th in 2011 while it is currently ranked 28th by EIU.
The survey has ranked India among the top countries that have advanced e-payments in citizen to government (C2G), government to business (G2B) and business to government (B2G) categories. India holds the top rank in G2B and B2G categories while it jointly holds the third spot in C2G categories.
"(India) could further improve its standing by focusing on expanding access to digital infrastructure, investing in socio-economic development, and promoting a healthy, competitive market," the survey said. Poor internet connectivity in several parts of the country has led to lesser rankings in the digital infrastructure category. India was also found to be lacking in policy front as well.
Norway holds the highest rank among the 73 countries which were part of the survey.
