Digital Versions Of Electors Photo Identity Card To Be Launched By Election Commission Of India On 25th January

The Election Commission of India is set to roll out electronic versions of the Electors Photo Identity Cards (e-EPICs) to mark the National Voters Day celebrations on 25th January, the Hindu reports. Union Minister of Law and Justice Ravi Shankar Prasad will initiate the program by providing the new e-EPICs to five new voters.
The digital EPICs can be downloaded from www.nvsp.in, www.voterportal.eci.gov.in as well as from the Voter Helpline App.
The e-EPIC will be non-editable version PDF of the EPIC. It can be stored on the DigiLocker application, self-printed from the computer or downloaded in a mobile phone too. General voters having authenticated EPIC numbers can download the electronic type of the card from 1 February onward.
On the other hand, individuals who applied for the same from November-December 2020 can download e-EPICs from 25th January to the end of the ongoing month.
The National Voters Day is celebrated annually on 25th January to observe the formation of the Election Commission of India on this date in 1950. The event is celebrated to increase the enrollment of voters in the country, with a special focus laid on newly-eligible citizens for the same.
