Just days after his ouster from the top offices of the Congress Party, Digvijaya Singh has given rise to another controversy. On Monday, he took to Twitter to accuse the Telangana police of setting up ‘fake’ Islamic State (IS) websites to radicalise Muslim youth and encouraging them to join the terror outfit.

This shouldn’t come as a surprise because Singh has promoted similar conspiracy theories about forces and governments in the past. Not long ago, he accused Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh of 'helping' Maoists. Last week, he had accused the Indian Army of targeting civilians in Kashmir. He is also known to have accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh of facilitating 26/11 attack on Mumbai.

In his strong worded message on Monday, Director General of Telangana Police said that Singh has levelled “unfounded allegations” against the force, adding that his irresponsible comments could lower the morale and image of the forces engaged in fighting anti-national forces. State government minister K T Rama Rao also came out in defence of the forces, calling Singh’s comments “most irresponsible & reprehensible”.
