In a conference organised by the international academy of astronautics, Indian Space and Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman K Sivan on Wednesday (22 January) called for collaborations both in the human space missions and beyond, reports New Indian Express.

Several space agencies are taking part in this conference including the Japanese and Italian space agencies who have stated the need for collaborations with prominent space agencies to enhance their national space programmes.

Talking about international collaborations in the Gaganyaan mission and beyond, Sivan said, "For more useful products and science and technology development we are interacting with many agencies."

Sivan called for joint venture in the Human Space Mission which will reduce development risks, cover the cost overrun and more countries can participate in holding scientific experiments.

Space mission collaborations is the way forward and Sivan said, "If in-house knowledge and research of all organisations are synergised, the outcome would be spectacular."

"One ISS (International Space Station) may not be enough. Regional ecosystems will be needed and Gaganyaan will focus on regional needs: Food, water, energy security," Sivan added.
