Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully test fired the Laser-Guided Anti Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) from the Main Battle Tank (MBT) Arjun, Times of India reports.

This exercise was conducted at Indian Army's Armoured Corps Centre and School (ACC&S) that is situated at KK Ranges in Ahmednagar.

“Congratulations to @DRDO_India for successfully conducting test firing of Laser Guided Anti Tank Guided Missile from MBT Arjun at KK Ranges (ACC&S) in Ahmednagar,” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted.

He also congratulated the organisation for consciously striving towards reducing India’s dependency over imports in the near future.

DRDO's labratory Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE) has developed this missile.

Times Now quoted DRDO has stating, “The missile employs a tandem HEAT warhead to defeat Explosive Reactive Armour (ERA) protected armoured vehicles. It has been developed with multiple-platform launch capability and is currently undergoing technical evaluation trials from a gun of MBT Arjun.”

It has also been mentioned that the ATFM surpassed a target of 3 kilometers in this test.
