Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to dissolve the state assembly to pave the way for early elections, Times Now has reported. The formal decision was announced after a cabinet meeting held today.

Rao has informed Governor ESL Narasimhan about his decision.

The election in Telangana, which was due in May 2019, is likely to be clubbed with the polls in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Mizoram.

Earlier, Rao had left everyone guessing on whether he would opt for early polls. But during his mega rally earlier this week, he dropped enough hints of what was coming. The TRS chief had said that he would soon set up a committee to come up with a manifesto for the election and had mentioned that his cabinet had authorised him to take a call on dissolving the assembly.

After the dissolution of the assembly, Rao is set to launch his campaign with a mega rally in Husnabad, the place from where he launched it in 2014.

This is a developing story. More details awaited.
