The World’s tallest statue, the Statue of Unity will be closed for visitors on Mondays, reports Desh Gujarat. That day will be reserved for maintenance and cleanliness of the statue and other places of tourist interest.

Around 300 tickets were sold online in advance for this Monday, and officials say those tickets will be valid for any other day of the week. More than 100 people who purchased the tickets online, either preponed their visit or are planning to postpone their visit to the statue honouring Sardar Vallabhai Patel.

The report stated that Bharat Vikas Group (BVG India), has been hired for the massive job of cleaning and maintenance of the statue and various tourist sites around it.

Due to Diwali rush, the statue was open for the public last Monday, as an exception.

The Gujarat government has invited various delegations to visit the site, with the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh visiting the statue site on Sunday (11 November). Among various others Ministers and Governors who were invited, so far only Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has visited.

On Sunday, 24,541 visitors came to see the 597 feet-long statue, totalling the revenue collected at the ticket window to Rs 44,68,290. Within the first ten days of the month, a total of 1,03,110 visited the site, resulting in a collection of Rs 2.25 crores of ticket Revenue.

Some of the issues plaguing the tourists are said to be long queues to board buses, lack of sitting space, the high cost of food and water, lack of shades at bus boarding points for people lining up to see the world’s tallest statue.
