Facebook Deletes 103 Pages Run By Pakistan Army To Praise Itself, Fuel Separatism In Kashmir

Facebook on Monday (1 April) deleted 103 accounts run by the employees of Inter-Service Public Relations of the Pakistani Military which were used to spread its own propaganda and at the same time attack Indian armed forces.
In a statement, Facebook stated that it has removed 103 pages, accounts and groups which were engaged in coordinated inauthentic behaviour on Facebook and Instagram as part of a network that originated in Pakistan.
The handlers of these pages ran pro-Pakistan military pages, Kashmir community groups and other pages related to Pakistan.
The pages were run by Pakistan Military’s employees and also routinely attacked the Indian armed forces, the Indian government and spread the Kashmiri separatist cause.
Facebook has also suspended 687 pages associated with the Congress IT cell, many of which were used to attack the BJP governments and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The social media giant also deleted 15 pages linked to an Indian IT firm named Silver Touch which spread political and election related content. It had spread almost Rs 50 lakh on advertising.
