Indicating a diminishing intensity of farmer protests, the singhu border protest site near Delhi is seeing a gradual decrease in number of stalls and visitors, reports The Hindu.

Singhu border protest site has been a focal point of farmer protests that are continuing from the past three months demanding the annulment of three farm laws. The protest site had become famous due to various langars setup here by various groups and individuals to provide free sewas to the protesters.

The free services made available by these langars included free massages, gym facility, salon, etc. But in the last few days these services have disappeared.

“At the beginning, there was a lot of energy and many people came here to offer their services. They all said that they were here to stay,” said Avtar Singh who stays close to where the pagdi langar used to be there at the protest site.

Many food stalls including the langar run by the Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) have also seen a dip in people eating.

“The primary reason is that a lot of langars have opened up at the back and also because less locals are now coming here,” said Balvir Singh, DSGMC langar manager.

However, many protesters are resolute to stay back and continue the protest.

“I had come with a man who I fell out with and he told me that I couldn’t have stayed without him. And I did. I am here for sewa and I will not leave till we win,” Dalbir Singh who has set up a free stitching stall said.

“Whoever we have interacted with, we have told him that we’ll stay here till the end and we will,” said Inderpreet Singh who runs Pizza langar.
