Faster, Easier, Accurate: Now Telangana Police and Judiciary Can Share Data In Real Time, Including FIRs, Through ICJS

The long time and manpower required for manual transfer of files between police stations and courts may now be a thing of past as the first Inter-operable Criminal Justice System (ICJS), intended to share live digital data with judiciary, has been launched in Telangana, Deccan Chronicle has reported.
The ICJS, integrated with the Crime and Criminals Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) project, will facilitate transparency and speed in delivery of police services.
The project will allow real-time sharing of data, including first information reports (FIRs), charge sheets and warrants, between police stations and courts. This will end the need of transfer of files resulting in a paperless judicial system.
According to the report, Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had selected Telangana for implementation of the project.
Supreme Court Justice Madan B Lokur, who also heads the ICJS, launched the project on Saturday (15 December) through video conference. With the launch, Subedari police station in the Warangal police commissionerate became the first police station in the country to exchange live data with the judiciary.
As per the report, the police station exchanged details of FIRs and chargesheets and received an acknowledgement from the court with reference number online.
The ICJS is aimed to connect CCTNS project with various aspects of judicial system including police, courts, prosecution, prisons and forensic labs.
