The Indian Government has allowed French airlines to operate flights to 29 destinations across the country in collaboration with Indian carriers - an action which will benefit the ‘cash-crunched’ Jet Airways, Economic Times has reported.

“Jet Airways and Air India had favoured this expansion from the Indian side and said that they would get passengers from flights of the French carrier,” according to a source which spoke to Economic Times.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) approved the flight-schedule for Jet Airways for five months. Earlier this month, Jet Airways had to cancel 14 flights as pilots reported ‘sick’ over non-payment of dues as the airlines is going through a ‘cash crunch.’

The move of allowing French airlines to operate flights will also help Jet Airways gather extra passengers and revenue since it has amplified cooperation agreement with Air France-KLM. The pact between Jet Airways and Air France KLM was signed in November 2017.

The pact between Jet Airways and Air France-KLM has given Jet a wider access to Europe and North America. The partnership has also boosted Air France-KLM’s access to the Indian market.
