Finally An Airport For Western UP: State Government Starts Work On Greater Noida Airport

The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has started work on the new airport at Jewar, near Greater Noida, in the western part of the state, reported Mihir Mishra for the Economic Times. Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha confirmed that the ministry had received a proposal to conduct a technical evaluation of the site for the proposed airport.
Earlier this week, Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) said land acquisition for the Jewar airport could be done in six months after it had the centre’s approval, and the airport can then be built in three years. YEIDA has written to the centre seeking permission to build the airport.
The new Jewar airport at Greater Noida will act as a secondary airport for the National Capital Region, which is currently served by the Indira Gandhi International Airport at Palam in southwest Delhi.
