First Batch Of 88 Nurses From India Arrive In UAE As Two Nations Strengthen The Collaborative Fight Against Covid-19

India has decided to send group of nurses and other healthcare workers to help the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in its fight to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. The first batch of 88 such nurses arrived there on Saturday (9 May), reports Economic Times.
The development comes at a time when the total number of confirmed cases of the viral disease in UAE have surged to 17,417. Of these, as many 624 new cases were reported on Saturday alone. Meanwhile, Saturday also witnessed 11 new COVID-19 deaths in UAE, taking the tally so far to 185.
It should be noted that the nurses will stay under a 14-day period of quarantine in UAE, post which they will be assigned to various field hospitals as per the requirement.
It should be noted that all the nurses hail from the Aster DM Healthcare hospitals based in the States of Kerala, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The arrival of nurses from the group in UAE was forged with support from the Indian Consulate and UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
Hailing the development, the Director-General of Dubai Health Authority, Humaid Al Qutami held it as a testimony of the relationship shared by the two nations. Speaking on similar lines, India's Ambassador to UAE Pavan Kapoor said that the development would further strengthen the long-standing friendship between the two nations.
