For The First Time In 125 Days, Fresh COVID-19 Cases Fall Below 30,000 Mark; Death Toll Below 400 After 111 Days

After a long wait of 125 days, the daily COVID-19 cases on Monday (19 July) fell below the 30,000-mark for the first time as the country recorded a total of 29,314 cases in the day, reports Times of India.
Before this, on Sunday (18 July), India had reported 38,574 fresh daily Covid-19 cases.
Further, on Monday, the daily death toll also fell to a 111-day low of 373. This was the first time that the daily death toll has fallen below the 400-mark since 30 March.
Meanwhile, Kerala continued to see rising COVID-19 cases for the third running week. The state has recorded as many as 95,600 new cases in the week gone by, at a daily average of over 13,600.
The cases in some of the Northeast states have also seen a surge. Manipur has reported a rise of 30 per cent in weekly cases, up from 26.6 per cent in the previous week. The state also saw the highest rise in fresh cases in the Northeast in absolute terms.
It reported 7,091 new infections in the last seven days, compared to the 5,445 fresh cases it recorded in the week before that.
Meanwhile, Arunachal Pradesh saw the cases rise by 24 per cent, compared to a 44 per cent rise in the week before that.
