Citroen C5 Aircross (Alexander Migl)
French auto major Groupe PSA is set to bring its Citroen brand to India with a top-line premium mid-size SUV called C5 Aircross, followed by a mass market small electric SUV by 2022, reports Economic Times.
The company has already acquired a manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu's Thiruvallur from Hindustan Motors which is a company of the C K Birla Group. It should be noted though that the company had earlier planned to turn India into an export hub for the SUV electric vehicle, but later decided to move the manufacturing to Europe with key parts being sourced from India.
The company is also betting on flexi-fuel car market in India and is developing a vehicle for the same, as the Government is pushing the industry to move towards biofuels in the nation and help bring down the ginormous fuel import bill. The car is expected to be launched in India next year.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
