In a big shot in the arm for the Government's reform push and the drive to achieve greater ease of doing business in the country, the number of days it takes in trial and judgment of commercial disputes has seen a massive fall in Delhi and Mumbai, reports Economic Times.

As per the World Bank's "doing business" report, it used to take 1,095 days in trial and judgment of commercial disputes in 2020. The latest data from the Department of Justice (DoJ) in the Union Ministry of Law shows the same has now come down to 424 days in Delhi and 306 days in Mumbai.

As per the said code, the filing of a written statement should be done within 30 days of the notice served on the defendant and the judgment should be delivered within 30 days from the hearing conclusion date.
