Preparing for a possible third wave of COVID-19 cases in future ahead, Chief Minister (CM) Vijay Rupani led Gujarat Government has initiated the process to set up more than 75 oxygen plants with a capacity to produce additional 300 metric tonnes (MT) a day, reports Economic Times.
Sharing the development, State's Deputy CM Nitin Patel also added that presently, 800-900 MT of medical oxygen is available in the State at any time. He also emphasised that at the worst time during the second wave, Gujarat had needed as much as 1,200 MT of medical oxygen supply a day.
Patel also added that priority is being given to large government hospitals, district-level hospitals, community health centres, large private hospitals, charitable-trust run hospitals. He also shared that facilities are also being set up to refill oxygen cylinders to be supplied to the patients getting home treatment.
