Decorated war veteran, former Chief of Army Staff, (Retd) General VK Singh is all set to return to the parliament with a thumping majority from the Ghaziabad Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Pradesh (UP).

Incumbnet Minister of State for External Affairs, Singh is a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader who is presently leading against 11 other candidates with a margin of over 1,84,048 votes. Trailing behind him is the Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Suresh Bansal with much lesser 2,01,430 votes compared to Singh's impressive arithmetic of 3,85,478 votes.

The numbers look even fancier when talked about in terms of percentage share given Singh has secured 59.09 per cent of all votes counted so far in Ghaziabad. This is a massive mandate and trust that the voters have bestowed on Singh.

Singh has served the nation's army since the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971 and later joined the BJP in 2013 after retirement from the Indian Army and won the Ghaziabad Lok Sabha constituency in 2014 with a margin of unprecedented 5,67,260 votes.
