Global Covid-19 Cases Near 74 Lakh Mark, Death Toll Surges To 4.17 Lakh

The total confirmed cases of Coronavirus infection on Thursday (11 June) surged to over 73.9 lakh globally, while the fatalities due to the deadly virus, which originated in China’s Wuhan city, have increased to more than 4.17 lakh, according to the Johns Hopkins University.
As of Thursday evening, the overall number of cases stood at 7,394,801 while the death toll increased to 417,022, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.
As many as 3,476,083 people have recovered from the disease globally, the CSSE data showed.
Currently, the US has 2,000,464 confirmed cases and 112,924 deaths, both tallies account for the highest in the world, according to the CSSE.
In terms of cases, Brazil comes in second place with 7,72,416 infections.
This was followed by Russia (501,800), the United Kingdom (291,588), India (286,579), Spain (242,280), Italy (235,763), Peru (208,823), France (192,068), Germany (186,525), Iran (177,938), and Turkey (173,036), the CSSE figures showed.
In terms of fatalities, the UK continues in the second position after the US with 41,213 COVID-19 deaths, which also accounts for the highest fatalities in Europe.
The other countries with over 10,000 deaths are Brazil (39,680), Italy (34,114), France (29,322), and Spain (27,136).
