Goa state government will be imposing a heavy fine on drinking alcohol in public and a notification to the same effect will be issued, reported ANI.
"Mind you, there will be a heavy fine if you are found drinking (in public) from the month of August. We're issuing a notification very soon. I intend to do it before August, so that we can implement it from August 15," Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is quoted to have said at a function.
The Chief Minister had earlier caught two students carrying beer bottles near the newly developed river front.
"Same way littering will also have a heavy fine of Rs 2,500. I have caught two-three college students going there with beer bottles. This is not done," Parrikar said.
Parrikar also remarked that throwing bottles on rocks in the riverfront posed danger to the lives of other people and has to be checked.
