Low-cost airliner GoAir terminated the contract of one of its employees identified as Asif Khan after a screenshot of his tweet making derogatory comments against Hindu gods went viral on social media.

He was also allegedly found to have been making abusive Hinduphobic comments on twitter.

Khan’s comments were soon noticed by various social media users who then proceeded to tag the airline on twitter demanding that action be taken against him.

While Khan had claimed in his twitter bio that he was a cabin crew member of GoAir it was later revealed that he was actually training to become a First Officer (co-pilot) for the airline.

Following the social media outrage GoAir issued a statement that it was trying to ascertain whether Khan was employed with the airline while assuring that it enforces a zero-tolerance policy towards its employees breaching employment regulations with regards to its social media policy.

Then later yesterday evening (4 June) the airline announced that it has terminated the employment contract of Khan with immediate effect.

Former Shiv Sena leader and activist Ramesh Solanki has meanwhile stated that he will be filing an FIR against Khan and pursuing legal action.
