Travelling by Train-18 or the Vande Bharat Express’s air-conditioned chair and executive class fare from Delhi to Varanasi would cost passengers Rs 1,850 and Rs 3,520 respectively, India Today reports.
According to a PTI report, officials said on Monday (11 February) that the return journey ticket fares are Rs 1,795 for chair car ticket and Rs 3,470 for executive car ticket.
In comparison, the Shatabdi Express, running at the same distance, is 1.5 times cheaper than the chair car fare and 1.4 times less expensive than the executive class of Train 18. The new semi-high speed train will be flagged off on 15 February by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sources said that the train would have two class of tickets - the executive class and the chair car, which will have meals, but prices would differ in the two. Passengers in the executive train, which will commute between New Delhi and Varanasi will be charged Rs 399 for tea, breakfast and lunch, while travellers in the chair car would be billed Rs 344 for the same.
While returning from Varanasi to New Delhi, they would be charged Rs 349 and Rs 288 in the executive and chair class respectively. Passengers travelling from New Delhi to Kanpur and Prayagraj will need to pay Rs 155 and Rs 122 for executive class and chair class, respectively.
