Tech giant Google is said to be tracking all the purchases that are ever made from your Android phone and any receipt of purchase that reached your Gmail account.
The internet giant is allegedly using a secret web tool which tracks not only purchases made using Google services but also ones that are made from non-Google portals such as offline stores or Amazon, The HansIndia reports.
Google’s web tool- ‘Purchases’ has dedicated access and captures details like date of purchase, item purchased, the amount paid and other such information. The web tool not only tracks information from Google services but also extracts data from purchase receipts that are linked to its email service Gmail.
Google, however, denies the same and clarifies that the data is not used to serve ads. The section is only available for the user easily view and keep track of purchases, bookings and subscriptions in one place.
This comes in the backdrop where the Tech Giant’s CEO Sunder Pichai’s speech about the importance of protecting data while releasing some security settings for chrome and other apps to its users’ couple of weeks ago at a tech event.
There is no specific way to avoid Google from snooping on your purchases history but to delete the email from your inbox. The users can also go to the preference page and check ‘Do not use private results’ option.
