The government has set up a new panel for planning on defence matters, called the Defence Planning Committee (DPC), under the chairmanship of National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, The Indian Express has reported.
The panel, which will be a permanent body, will prepare a draft national security strategy and undertake a strategic defence review.
The panel will take a longer view of India’s current and future military requirements, obtain approval from the Cabinet Committee on Security for capability development plan and provide guidance for budgetary support.
It will have four sub-committees: on Policy and Strategy, Plans and Capability Development, Defence Diplomacy, and Defence Manufacturing.

The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
