Govt Claims Wastage of Foodgrains Came Down From 24,000 Tons To 3,000 Tons In Last Two Years

Modi government claims that the quantity of wastage of foodgrains in the Food Corporation of India (FCI) has come down from 24,695 tons in 2013-14 to 3,116 tons in 2015-16.
The amount of wastage is steadily coming down. In 2014-15, the wastage stood at 18,847 tons, the Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, C. R. Chaudhary, told the Parliament today (9 December).
He also assured that there is enough stocks of foodgrains to meet the demands of the Public Distribution System (PDS) and other welfare schemes. He also informed that the stock of wheat and rice is 18 tons and 46 tons more than the stocking norms respectively.
