The Government is planning to conduct the Monsoon Session of the Parliament in an unseen fashion, with the gatherings and sessions of both, the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha taking place in the Central Hall on alternate days, reports Economic Times.
The Central Hall has a net capacity to accommodate 776 Members of Parliament (MPs) at one go. Thus, it evolves as a fit to hold the Parliamentary Sessions while maintaining social distancing norms among the MPs.
However, it should be noted that while the session is usually held in July-end, the Government this year intends to hold the session in August-end, which marks a delay of almost a month. This delay is caused by the disruption in normal activity caused by COVID-19 pandemic.
The development towards convening the Monsoon session comes as the rules enshrined in the Constitution mandate it to convene the Parliament once in every six months. Given, both the Houses of the Parliament were adjourned on 23 March, the Government has time till 23 September to convene the next session.

Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
