The Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) has joined hands with homegrown digital mapping and navigation services provider MapmyIndia to help people locate government facilities on the digital maps, reports Economic Times.

The integration of MapmyIndia's services with the MeitY-operated smartphone application UMANG will help people locate ration shops, mandis, blood banks, places where lightning has struck in the past few minutes, Indian Oil petrol pumps, and gas stations et cetera. The people will be able to see detailed and interactive street and village-level maps of India.

UMANG, which stands for Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance, provides people access to around 1,251 services from 257 Union and State Government departments.

Issuing a statement, MapmyIndia's chief executive and executive director Rohan Verma said, "We are delighted to partner with the National eGovernance Division of Government of India, to power Umang app with MapmyIndia Maps and APIs."

Verma further added that UMANG is an incredible super app built by the Government to help citizens access hundreds of government services through a click of a button.
