‘Guest Legislator’: Former CM Siddaramaiah Slammed For Visit Days After Floods Ravaged Badami

Congress legislative party leader and former chief minister (CM) of Karnataka Siddaramaiah was received by people calling him a 'guest legislator' when he reached Badami, his assembly constituency which is currently grappling with severe floods, reports the New Indian Express.
The people of the flood-hit areas of Badami slammed the senior Congress party leader for having shown up to his voters days after the floods ravaged the constituency.
Defending his inability to visit earlier, Siddaramaiah explained to the people that he had an eye surgery on 4 August, two days before the floods started. He said, "I was ready to visit, but doctors insisted I rest."
Thereafter training the gun at the central government, he attacked the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government for neglecting the flood-hit state and demanded that the centre must immediately release Rs 5,000 crore as relief funds for the state.
Taking a jibe at Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, Siddaramaiah said that he should resign if he fails to tackle the floods in the state.
