Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh Shine At National Tourism Awards; AAI’s Ahmedabad, Indore Airports Declared Best

Indore’s Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport and Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport have been conferred with the prestigious National Tourism Awards for the year 2016-17 in New Delhi. The credit of the work goes to Airports Authority of India who are the main architects of the projects.

A PIB press release said that the Ahmedabad International Airport received the Best Airport Award under the category of Major Cities while the Indore airport received the Best Airport title under the ‘Rest of India’ category. Presenting the awards was Minister of State (IC) for Tourism K J Alphons.

The ministry gives out National Tourism Awards to various segments of the tourism industry annually. The receivers can be anyone from heritage hotels, tour operators to states and union territories recognition being accorded for their performance in their respective area of interest. This is done in order to promote healthy competition and tourism.

Indore airport happens to be one of the busiest airports of Madhya Pradesh and connects to a list of major cities in India. The terminal has state-of-the-art building and world-class facilities. Indore handles nearly two million passengers per year in the Asia-Pacific region.

Ahmedabad International Airport has risen its ASQ rating to 4.8 out of 5. It was recently awarded ‘Most Improved Airport’ in the Asia-Pacific region for 2017 by the Airports Council International.
