Students making rakhi in a school (SchoolRadcliffe/Twitter)
The Gujarat government has sought an explanation from a school in Gandhinagar over the allegations of a teacher cutting off Rakhis from the students' wrist.
Times of India reported that some parents complained to the education department that a teacher at Mount Carmel High School had cut off Rakhis tied on the students' wrists with scissors. This, the parents complained, happened a day after Rakshabandhan festival.
The Hindustan Times reported that activists of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and Vishwa Hindu Parishad protested outside the school over the alleged incident. The report says, “ABVP leader Rishikesh Mandalia claimed that when the protesters confronted the school management, they denied that such an incident happened”.

The 2024 elections might seem easy to guess, but there are some important questions that shouldn't be missed.
Do freebies still sway voters? Do people prioritise infrastructure when voting? How will Punjab vote?
The answers to these questions provide great insights into where we, as a country, are headed in the years to come.
Swarajya is starting a project with an aim to do 50 solid ground stories and a smart commentary service on WhatsApp, a one-of-a-kind. We'd love your support during this election season.
